Quran Reading Online with Correct Pronunciation

Proper pronunciation of the Quran is very important. Learning how to read and recite the Quran exactly as it was revealed requires some effort at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will be able to read it fluently. Today we are going to learn how to read Quran online while correctly pronouncing each letter and word.

After getting a basic knowledge of correct pronunciation, one should never practice reading Quran without perfectly pronouncing its words and letters (Arabic: وحدة النطق بالقرآن) (meaning: "The unity in reciting/pronuncing Qur'an"), because only if one had reached strong knowledge of correct pronunciation, can be able to avoid mispronunciations, and this is 100% necessary if one wants to gain reward for recitation. Because if someone read while not perfectly pronouncing words and letters, he would only make the listener laugh at him.

READING THE QURAN CORRECTLY IS PART OF ONE'S IMAN (FAITH)

Online Quran Teaching and Online Quran Reading, in simple terms, can be understood as: an online platform that helps anyone to read the Holy Quran with correct pronunciation and comprehension. Let me tell you one thing, only if a person's knowledge is correct can he or she have a strong belief in what he or she speaks out. That is why the Quran says to its followers: وَقُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُم الله وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنوبَكُمْ وَاللهُ غَفورٌ رَحِيم "And say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." (3:31)"

So knowledge is one of the requirements to become a follower of Prophet Muhammad. Another requirement is to practice what He taught us in reciting Quran. It would be enough for us to just read Quran without perfect pronunciation and we would already get a reward just for that. But if we want to gain more reward than just reading Quran, or when one wants to read Quran for giving a lesson/lecture (Arabic: محاضرة) (meaning: "giving a lecture in Quran"), then one has to be able to recite it properly.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad used to perfect his pronunciation of the Quran over and over again. That is why even today scholars can recite the whole Quran in less than an hour because they perfected their recitation once (not like others who think they are reciting perfectly while pronouncing incorrectly). So do not assume that you know everything about correct pronunciation without asking someone who knows it better than you. There are people among us who do not know how to read/recite Quran properly and yet they become "Quranic scholars" because there are no true scholars today.

The reason for this is that people think that if they can recite the whole Quran in less than an hour, then they already know everything about correct pronunciation and do not need any other scholar's help. No matter how much we try to cover something up, Allah will surely uncover it sooner or later! Allah says: وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَسْتَ مُرْسِلا قُلْ إِنَّمَا مَثَلي وَمَثَلكُمْ كَمَا بَيْنَت ذلِكَ لِلْعالِمين "And those who disbelieve say, "You are not sent (as Messenger).' Say, "Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you, and whoever has knowledge of the Scripture." (13:43)"

THE FIVE LEVELS OF CORRECT PRONUNCIATION ARE:

  • 1 Knowing the meaning of the Quran's words. Tafseer (explanation) of Quran. This level includes knowing all rules that are needed for making teshreef (distortion) in the way it was originally written.
  • 2 Knowing where certain letters end and start in Quran's words. This level includes knowing the rules of Tajweed.
  • 3 Knowing when and where to pause while reading, and the proper way of pausing between letters and words. This also includes knowing all types of breaks that are found in Quran such as high break ( تقاطع مرتفع ), low break ( تقاطع مستوي), medium break (تقاطع متوسط), etc".
  • 4 Knowing when to prolong a letter and when not, knowing when to say a letter succinctly and when not. This also includes knowing all rules related to letters such as:Rule of Ta marbuta و, rule of noon (ص), rule of dhal (د), rule of Saa (ث), etc.
  • 5 Knowing all rules related to reciting Quran such as knowing when to lower your voice and when not. This also includes knowing the difference between reciting Quran for reading and for giving a lecture. And many other rules that are needed for recitation. All this together makes one perfect in his/her pronunciation. Allah says يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ وَلا تُطِعِ الْكَافِرينَ وَالْمُنافِقينَ "O Prophet, fear Allah and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. (33:1)"
  • In this verse, there is a warning from Allah to us about 2 types of people who will misguide us:

1- The kuffar (disbelievers) by telling us to stop reciting Quran!
2- The munafiqeen (hypocrites) by telling us that they are reciting it correctly while in fact their pronunciation is incorrect.
Allah says: قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَدْعُو رَبِّي وَلا أُشْرِكُ لَهُ أَحَدا "Say, "I invoke only my Lord and do not associate any partners with Him." (72:20)" Of course, it means the same thing whether you read it correctly or incorrectly. Why does Allah want us to say tashahhud correctly? The same reason why He orders us to pray? Its the important worship, not how many mistakes you make in pronouncing Quranic words! Allah says: قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ "Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind." (114:1)" Does it matter if one recites Quran with perfect pronunciation? Get your Quran teacher who will explain it all to you online. Allah says: وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَندادا يحبونَهُمْ كَحُب اللَّهِ "And of the people are some who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they (should) love Allah. (2:165)" Does this verse mean that we should not recite Quran perfectly? Allah says وَالسَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ "And peace upon you as well as the mercy of Allah and His blessings. (57:28)" Does it matter if one pronunciation is correct? Allah says: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ وَلا تطْعِ الْمُنذِرين "O Prophet, be afraid of Allah and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. (33:1)".

The Difference in Online Quran Teaching and Online Quran Reading

There is a difference between Online Quran teaching and Online Quran Reading. An online course of Quran teaching follows a very formal way of reading with different sura names, divisions, subsections, etc. A person trying to learn how to recite or recite better may find such a structure confusing when they are just starting. This is where "Equranforyou" comes into play - we try our best to make it easier for people by focusing on the core - recitation itself while keeping short and clear enough.

On the other hand, “Equranforyou” is a perfect combination of Recitation and Tajweed courses with some additional benefits - one can switch between different reciters according to their preferences, stop or replay a certain part they liked, etc.

Repetition of Quranic words And phrases

To enable the basic required level of fluency, people need to have enough practice by reading more Quranic words and phrases. This will also enable them to be ready for further Quranic studies. “Equranforyou” has many Quranic words and phrases introduced so far with their correct pronunciation to help people practice the Quranic language.

Final Words:

A person cannot hide anything from Allah! Quran reading with perfect pronunciation is part of one's Iman (belief). There is no doubt that if someone did not know something about what he was reciting, he would not be able to read it perfectly. So one who does not know the correct pronunciation and yet reads Quran with proper pronunciation is surely a liar. “Equranforyou” is an online platform where anyone can read the Holy Quran with correct Recitation and Tajweed rules by following the step by step rules. More importantly, we focus on Online Quran Reading, not on Online Quran Teaching - we let you enjoy the process of reading and understanding the Holy Quran.
