What was Muhammad's childhood like?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born into the family of the most beloved and respected man by the Quraysh, Al-Assad.

The Quraysh tribe was the ruling tribe of Mecca and they were known for their long and esteemed line of Prophets. Prophet Muhammad was born in the year 570 C.E. His name was “Abdullah”, which means “servant of Allah”.

As a child, he was known as a very kind and generous person, and also as a gifted athlete and merchant.

He was known to help around his neighborhood, especially with gardening and raising sheep.

He was a thoughtful child, who was known to fast without a reason and was always eager to learn more about Allah and the world around him.

He was reported to have said: “The best among you are those who are the best to their wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.” And it is said that once he was asked about his compassion for people, he said: “Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.”

What were the events surrounding the Treaty of Hudaybiya?

The treaty of Hudaybiyyah was a truce between Muhammad and his opponents from Mecca in 628 AD. After the Muslims had migrated to Medina, the Quraysh tribe of Mecca, a powerful tribe, decided to take back all of their belongings.

The Muslims and the Quraysh were at a standstill until the Medinans offered to host an annual pilgrimage with the Quraysh, which would bring the tribes from Mecca to Medina.

The Quraysh agreed to this. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) took this opportunity to approach the Quraysh and ask for a 10-year truce. The Quraysh agreed to the truce and the Treaty of Hudaybiya was made. This truce was rejected by some of the Quraysh, who wished to continue fighting the Muslims.

The Treaty of Hudaybiya is usually seen as the first step in the spread of Islam. It was also an important moment in Muhammad’s (PBUH) life, as it is when he received the first revelation from Allah in the Cave of Hira.

The conquest of Makkah

The greatest event of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) life was the Conquest of Makkah, which occurred on the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah 10 A.H.

This was the event that marked the end of the major wars of apostasy and the beginning of the Islamic state. Makkah was the most important city of the Arabian Peninsula, the city of the Ka'bah, the religious and political center of the polytheists.

All the tribes of Arabia came to Makkah to perform the pilgrimage. It was here that the tribes were most vulnerable to the preaching of Islam and the Muslims.

When the Prophet (PBUH) migrated to Madinah, he found out that the tribes of Arabia were planning to eliminate him, and he, therefore, decided to postpone his mission of inviting them to Islam until he had the support of a tribe or a group of people in Madinah.

What was the migration to Madinah?

The Migration (Arabic: Hijrah) refers to the journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers from Mecca to Madinah in 622 CE.

Thousands of Muslims gathered around Prophet Muhammad, who was the leader of the Muslims in Mecca, to discuss the future of the Muslim nation, but they were treated harshly by the Quraish tribe.

The Prophet was subjected to the worst kinds of torture and persecution. The Muslims were forced to leave their city and started the migration to Madinah. The migration was the first step towards the establishment of the first Islamic State in Madinah. The first Islamic government was established in Madinah, which played a vital role in the propagation of Islam.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah in the year 570. His real name was Muhammad ibn Abdullah. Muhammad was a member of the Hashim clan. He was orphaned at the age of six, and was raised under the care of his grandfather. When his grandfather died, Muhammad was entrusted to the care of his uncle, Abu Talib.

It was Abu Talib who took Muhammad to Makkah when the boy was eight years old. Muhammad became a merchant and traveled to Syria, Yemen, and elsewhere in the Middle East for trade.
